That every Member intending to move for the appointment of a Select Committee, do endeavour to ascertain previously whether each Member proposed to be named by him, on such Committee, will give his attendance thereupon.

07 March 1888 Amended

That every Member intending to move for the appointment of a Select Committee do endeavour to ascertain previously whether each Member proposed to be named by him on such Committee will give his attendance thereupon.

01 December 1902 Amended

Every member intending to move for the appointment of a select committee shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each member proposed to be named by him on such committee will give his attendance thereupon.

28 July 1948 Amended

Any member intending to propose that certain members be members of a select committee shall give notice of the names of the members whom he intends to propose to be members of the committee, and shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such member will give his attendance on the committee.

The provisions of paragraph (1) of this order shall apply in the case of members proposed to be added or substituted.

06 December 1951 Amended

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee shall give notice of the names of the Members whom he intends to propose to be members of the committee, and shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee.

The provisions of paragraph (1) of this order shall apply in the case of Members proposed to be added or substituted.

24 February 1976 Amended

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee shall give notice of the names of the Members whom he intends to propose to be members of the Committee, and shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee.

The provisions of paragraph (1) of this order shall apply in the case of Members proposed to be added or substituted.

25 June 1979 Amended

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee shall give notice of the names of the Members whom he intends to propose to be members of the committee, and shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee.

30 March 1983 Amended

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee, or be discharged from a select committee, shall give notice of the names of the Members whom he intends so to propose, shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee, and shall endeavour to give notice to any Member whom he proposes to be discharged from the committee.

No motion shall be made for the nomination of members of select committees appointed under Standing Order No. 99 (Select committees related to government departments), or for their discharge, unless:

(a) notice of the motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and

(b) the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee, or be discharged from a select committee, shall give notice of the names of the Members whom he intends so to propose, shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee, and shall endeavour to give notice to any Member whom he proposes to be discharged from the committee.

No motion shall be made for the nomination of members of select committees appointed under Standing Order No. 130 (Select committees related to government departments), or for their discharge, unless-

(a) notice of the motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and

(b) the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee, or be discharged from a select committee, shall give notice of the names of Members whom he intends so to propose, shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee, and shall endeavour to give notice to any Member whom he proposes to be discharged from the committee.

No motion shall be made for the nomination of members of select committees appointed under Standing Order No. 130 (Select committees related to government departments), or for their discharge, unless-

(a) notice of the motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and

(b) the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee, or be discharged from a select committee, shall give notice of the names of Members whom he intends so to propose, shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee, and shall endeavour to give notice to any Member whom he proposes to be discharged from the committee.

No motion shall be made for the nomination of members of select committees appointed under Standing Order No. 152 (Select committees related to government departments) or under Standing Order No. 142 (Domestic Committees), or for their discharge, unless-

(a) notice of the motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and

(b) the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.

(b) the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.

20 May 2009 Amended

Any Member intending to propose that certain Members be members of a select committee, or be discharged from a select committee, shall give notice of the names of Members whom he intends so to propose, shall endeavour to ascertain previously whether each such Member will give his attendance on the committee, and shall endeavour to give notice to any Member whom he proposes to be discharged from the committee.

No motion shall be made for the nomination of members of select committees appointed under the standing orders of this House (with the exception of the Liaison Committee, the Committee of Selection, the Committee on Standards and Privileges and any Committee established under a temporary standing order), or for their discharge, unless-

(a) notice of the motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and

(b) (i) in the case of a motion to agree with a report from the Liaison Committee to appoint and nominate Members to a National Policy Statement Committee under Standing Order No. 152H (Planning: national policy statements) the motion is made on behalf of the Liaison Committee by the chairman or another member of the committee; or

(ii) in other cases the motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the chairman or another member of the committee.
